This project aimed to investigate the influence of frequent public performances in the student’s motivation for instrument
practicing. It also aimed to study the impact of those frequent public performances in the acquisition of cognitive, performative
and musical competences. The study was applied to a set of 23 students of a musical instrument – flute – distributed in
one control group and in one experimental group. Several tools (questionnaires, student evaluation forms and performance
evaluation forms) were used to collect essential information leading to the conclusion of this investigation and to answer the
questions involved. The results suggest an impact of frequent public performance in several aspects of the learning process
of students.
