Educational Organization: The Case of Coordinator Office for Artistic education

This communication is a reflection about the organizational level of a specific entity located in Região Autónoma da Madeira: the Gabinete Coordenador de Educação Artística. Among their responsibilities, this organization belonging to the Secretaria Regional de Educação e Cultura is responsible for coordinating the area of arts education in the first cycle of basic education.
There are focused mainly two dimensions: at first the organization as a center of resource management and teaching coordinator; and then ist model of supervision/teaching assistance, including teachers training.
Based on documental analysis (internal and published documents) and on direct observation, the data collected allow us to identify some strengths and weaknesses in using this type of organizational model taking into account two foci: first, the GCEA
as a center of the resource management and pedagogical coordinator and, second, the supervision/educational support and
teacher training.
