The large interest in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's nature observation proposal, in the last decades, inspires artists
and researchers to review the very idea of a sensitive knowledge. This knowledge is based on the significance of sensory
experience through the relation between the body and the environment, through images. The purpose of this article
is to gather some elements of the History of the Arts that allow us to understand the main aspects of the sensitive
knowledge. At the end, the paper suggests some possibilities for current research in both fields the aesthetic education
and the phenomenological thought.
