Laboral Satisfaction of Art Professionals in the Autonomous Region of Madeira

In the first part, we defined motivation and satisfaction, with some theories and explanatory models of work satisfaction. In
the second part of the study, we intended to establish, through the paths followed in teaching and in the performing arts setor,
if arts professionals can get job satisfaction, and the factors that are associated with it. Thus, we will consider the influence
of sociodemographic factors (gender, age, marital status, career performance, job experience, job title, level of education
completed, years of teaching, professional status and disciplinary group of teaching) in the arts professionals job satisfaction
regarding to: supervision at work, working conditions, salary, responsibility, work itself, advancement, security, recognition and
relationship with colleagues. To analyze arts teachers and professionals in art job satisfaction we applied the Teacher Job
Satisfaction Questionnaire (TJSQ) (Lester, 1982), translated and adapted for this purpose. The study was conducted on 380
participants: teachers of artistic expression, musicians and other performing artists to the performing arts and audiovisual
media.
