The Conservatório – Escola Profissional das Artes da Madeira (Professional School of Arts of Madeira) holds in itself a series of ten decentralized poles (currently known as branches), spread across the various municipalities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, which have the particularity of being coordinated by the figure of the branch coordinatorwho is apppointed by the board of Directors of this institution.
The purpose of this study was to verify what are the motivations expressed by the branch coordinators concerning the of their assignment, along with the recognition given by top hierarchy. However, there is a certain mismatch regarding the motivations of each coordinator, which eventually refelcts a panoply of different understandings, from different individuals, regarding the way of experiencing the position of branch coordinator.
