This essay reflects on transdisciplinarity in the context of art education through an artistic creation challenge aimed at 2nd-year students of the Visual Arts and Technologies undergraduate program at the School of Education – Polytechnic of Lisbon.. The proposal, entitled “The Mask and the Other”, aimed at the realization of a transdisciplinary project articulated between the curricular units of Arts, Technologies and Multimedia Workshop IV – Sculpture and Multimedia Art modules – and Art Theory, of the 2nd semester of the school year 2020/2021. The projectual process materialized the stages of the gesture of masking that begins in the individual, dividing, (un)knowing and prolonging itself in the other that contemplates it as an absolute difference of itself.
