Abstract

The Covid 19 pandemic made it necessary to impose social distancing measures, which had an impact on different sectors of society. Education was no exception to this reality. With the spread of the Covid 19 virus and the need to avoid
crowds of people, schools and educational institutions had to adapt to continue teaching activities safely. Therefore, the need arose to “massify” Distance Learning (E@D), a sporadic or little-spread practice. The present study attempted to identify under what conditions and circumstances instrument teachers taught, as well as their professional experiences in this teaching context. The data for this study were collected through an online survey with teachers from all teaching cycles of Specialized Music Teaching. The sample consisted of 92 participants (n=92) from the instrument and singing
recruitment groups. The results showed that most teachers were not prepared to teach E@D and that schools did not provide adequate training and resources for teaching. The results also showed that teachers’ productivity and emotional balance were negatively affected. Many teachers were forced to adapt and modify plans and methodologies. The study
suggests that, even though the use of technological means and communication tools was one of the positive aspects and that could be an advantage in the Specialized Teaching of Music.
