The counter-gesture of waste. The experience based on the relation between matter, thought and object” analyzes the workshop “The counter-gesture of waste” held at the XII Congresso de Educação Artística. In 2021, in Funchal. To address the issue of waste as a vector of creativity and reflection, during this workshop some works of artists were exhibited like Aristide Kouame, Paulo Perdigão, Todd Mclellan, Bernard Bras and Chris Jordan, and of architects such as Irene Moracia, Oki Sato and Rosinda Casais. It started by replacing the idea of garbage by waste and organized 3
moments: ‘I. object without context’ analyzed waste as a source for materials and ideas, ‘II. object reading’ highlighted the work of experimentation, discovery and communication, ‘III. means of approach’ distinguished priorities in the approach of
the matter. Aiming at the practical application of the theoretical principles and at providing examples for any other type of material, in synchronous online mode, used easily accessible materials.
