Abstract

The present essay is essentially a reflection pertaining major concepts under an Art Education project entitled “FLOWER as Natural and Cultural Heritage” accomplished in Madeira island. The latter has been designed under a Master Degree in Art Education in Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and developed in two stages: being the first an approach to context and artistic experimentation itself among social institutions, whilst the second opened up to the community, through their enrolling in the exhibit ECO FLOR. This opening has allowed the observation and fruition of numerous exhibits along with other artistic and cultural activities, namely with the project CORAÇÃO VERDE and Flower Exhibition, all within the Flower Festival all displaying different perspectives
around the themes: Flower and Garden. With a blunt contribution of two generations, its sole purpose was to explore various environmental issues, as for instance, Nature preservation, Natural and Cultural Heritage, Ecology and endogenous resources. Their results vividly mirror their vision of their garden island, clearly imprinted on their artistic expression correlated with Education, Nature and Art.
