Abstract

The changes we are currently witnessing in the field of artistic production should lead to a renewal of artistic practices
experienced by students in the school context. If currently education focuses on learning processes and adaptation to the
student’s needs, there must also be a connection to today’s society, which seeks to decode understandings, encourage
a critical spirit, a creative spirit, the development of perception of the power of image and adaptation to multidisciplinary
environments, remembering the breadth of the artistic field and its transversality.
In this article, we intend to find out how digital space is included in Visual Arts disciplines, as it has influenced
contemporary artistic production and the development of areas such as Design and Architecture.
We also examine the guidelines for the presentation and application of digital tools and techniques, according to
the documents that guide and organize the artistic teaching of Visual Arts, in middle school and high school, and what
strategies and suggestions are left by the Ministry of Education of Portugal to adapt this knowledge to the profile of
current students.
